Dr. William Villaverde is a Cuban pianist, composer, educator, and entrepreneur with a prolific international career spanning over two decades. Known for his mastery in both classical and Latin jazz, William brings a unique perspective to his performances and educational endeavors. His latest album, "Friendship," features a blend of styles from Latin Jazz to blues, demonstrating his eclectic approach that the Charleston City Paper praised for setting him apart.

As a dedicated advocate for Cuban music, William has extensively recorded the complete twentieth-century piano works of the Latin Grammy-nominated Cuban composer, Andres Alen. His entrepreneurial spirit is highlighted by his co-founding of the Superior Academy of Music in Miami, a nationally recognized institution that reflects his commitment to excellence in music education.

William's performance career is marked by appearances at major international music festivals across Cuba, Bolivia, Spain, and the United States, including the Havana International Contemporary Music Festival and the Piccolo Spoleto International Music Festival in Charleston, South Carolina. He has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras such as the Frost Symphony Orchestra and the South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. His performances have been described as "unforgettable" by the Charleston City Paper and received high acclaim from the Diario de Leon in Spain, which called him a "marvelous pianist" after his rendition of Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1.

As an educator, William has been affiliated with prestigious institutions including the University of Miami and Miami Dade College. His students have consistently achieved excellence, earning top-rated university evaluations and scholarships. His contributions to music education extend beyond teaching, serving as an adjudicator at several Music Teachers Association festivals.

William began his illustrious career in his native Cuba, where he was recognized as an "Arts' Laureate" by the Higher Institute of Arts and gained notable early experience as a recitalist and a faculty member at the National School of Music. His early promise was also acknowledged through numerous awards, including First Prize at the 2009 University of Miami Concerto Competition and the 2005 Annual Meadows Concerto Competition at Southern Methodist University.

William holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance with a cognate in Jazz Performance from the University of Miami, where his dissertation focused on the piano works of Andres Alen. He also holds a Masters of Music and an Artist Certificate from Southern Methodist University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (Cum Laude) from the College of Charleston. His education was enriched by the guidance of notable teachers such as JB Floyd, Joaquin Achucarro, and Enrique Graf.

Currently residing in Indialantic, FL, with his wife, pianist and business strategist Fabiana Claure, and their two sons, William continues to influence the musical world both as the Program Director of the Superior Academy of Music, which he manages remotely, and through ongoing performances and compositions.
